Project abstract:
We are looking for an Intern Software Engineer to join Sopra Steria Apps Services team for a client in the aerospace sector.
You will work in an industrial, stable environment in multinational team (France, Poland, India) for a major aeronautical manufacturer. The program involves wide portfolio of applications developed by multiple teams in modern technologies, that e.g., support pilots, crew, and airline in planning the flights or various airport operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform under supervision, operations of moderate complexity including development and maintenance, support, cyber analysis, configuration, incident resolution, installation of systems, software and hardware, or network configuration
- Systematically verify product reliability using unit tests
- Participate in writing and running software tests and protecting systems
- Assist in the development of software or IS components, operate and monitor systems, help prepare production launches as appropriate
- Train users and provide customers or users with support
- Attend internal and customer meetings when required
Tech stack:
- Programming Language: Java 11
- Databases: Oracle Database, PostgreSQL
- DevOps & CI/CD Tools: Jenkins – Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment, SonarQube – Code Quality and Security Analysis, GitHub – Version Control and Collaboration
- Web Services: SOAP, REST
Processes and tools:
- Methodology: Agile methodology with strong client collaboration and iterative delivery, incorporating backlog refinement, task estimation, customer validation, and continuous development/testing cycles.
- Issue Tracking Tools: Agility and ServiceNow
- Testing: Unit and integration testing using JUnit and SOAPUI (for API testing)
- Code Review: Conducted via GitHub pull requests with SonarQube integration for static code analysis and quality check
- Pair Programming: Practiced selectively for complex tasks, knowledge sharing, and onboarding support.
Must-have requirements:
- Student status in computer science, software engineering or a related field
- Location: Katowice area
- English at a minimum B2 level
- Knowledge of one or more programming languages (e.g. Java, C#)
- Understanding of the fundamentals of software development, version control and databases
- Curiosity, willingness to learn and collaborative attitude
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical approach
Nice to have requirements:
Location: Katowice (hybryd model of work, at least 2 days/week in the office)
Cooperation based on employment contract (part-time) or mandate contract
The recruitment process for this position consist of two stages:
- a short phone call with a recruiter (30 min max)
- 1h long interview on Teams (with both general and technical questions)
